The bus journey was 4hour- long as we travelled to YiChang for lunch. Went to a restaurant for lunch. Lunch was delicious. The food was appetizing and I ate to my fill.
After lunch, we went to the Three Gorges Dam. On the way to the dam, saw a lot of beautiful sceneries. The mountains and hills are just too magnificent as compared to our Singapore’s Bukit Timah Hill. The rivers and streams that flowed between the hills and mountains were also magnificent views. Soon, we reached the first scenic spot of the Three Gorges Dam. The first scenic spot was the highest point of the Three Gorges area. Was brought to a model room where the tour guide explained to us how the Three Gorges Dam worked. Learnt something about how the dam functions.
Took a Ngee Ann group photo at the peak and we quickly proceed to the next scenic spot. It is called the 185 platform. Learnt that it was of the same height as the Three Gorges Dam. Took a few pictures there and we proceed to the last scenic spot.
The last scenic spot is a memorial garden and we could also have a very good view of the downstream side of the Three Gorges Dam. After that, boarded the bus and returned to our own tour bus. This trip to the Three Gorges Dam had really left my in awe. In my impression, the Three Gorges Dam is really the pride of China and its people. The technology used in building it was more high tech than I first expected. It can even produce a huge amount of electricity as compared to other advanced countries. It even had a few of the most advanced power generators which even the USA had only 3. This had really broaden my knowledge. The tour guide also told us that some part of the construction was done purely by human strength instead of using machine. This really made me respect the Chinese even more.
Went for dinner at the same restaurant which we went to during the afternoon. We were running late to catch our cruise so everyone ate quite in a rush. Boarded the cruise ‘Silver Moon’. Was actually quite satisfied with the room as it was better than I expected. We were told that the bed and blankets could be very dirty, however, in my opinion, the beds and blankets in our cruise were quite clean. The room was also quite tidy and spacious, considering that only 2 people share one room. One negative impression I had was the toilet in our room. The toilet was really small and the ceiling was so short that I thought that it would be very difficult for one to shower properly in the toilet. Also, the toilet looked quite dirty as well.
After settling down in the room, went up to the viewing gallery on the 4th level at around 10P.M. At this timing, our cruise would be crossing a dam’s gate and many people were on the viewing gallery to witness the process. The process left a deep impression in my mind as it was really amazing as how a cruise could be rise up by around 8 storey high so that it could continue its journey upstream. After the cruise had finally crossed the dam, went to my friend’s room to play poker cards. At around 12A.M, went up to the viewing gallery again to look at the scenery, however, everywhere was pitch black and all we could see was the moon and some lights from the other boats at the area. The wind also made us feel very cold.
