Day 6

Rushed to the classroom block as we woke up late. On our way there, I observed one thing about the local Chinese students. The local Chinese students always walked in a one way direction. For example, the right side of the road, people were walking in the same direction towards the classroom blocks. While on the left hand side of the road, people were walking in the same opposite direction towards the canteen. So it somewhat looked like vehicles travelling on 2 different lanes meant for cars moving in different direction. This made them looked systematic.

Reached the classroom at around 8:10a.m. A Chinese lecturer was in there, preparing to give us a lecture on the culture or Wuhan and Hubei. Was quite impressed actually because she could speak pretty good English too. The lecture was quite enriching, learnt more things about Hubei and Wuhan. Before this OIP trip, I thought Hubei was just a small and dull ulu part of China. However, now I realized that many historical events took place right here. For example the Battle of Red Cliff and the starting of Sun Yat-Sen’s revolution took place at Wuchang too. Also, I learnt that famous people such as ZhugeLiang was from Hubei too.

After afternoon lessons, went to the canteen to buy some tidbits back to the hostel to eat. There were quite a few varieties. Bought some and the price is calculated according to the weight of the tidbits. Went back to the hostel and shared the food with others.

After that, went out of the campus to eat dinner. Went to the row of fishball restaurants just outside the school. As all of them were selling the same type of food, we took quite a time before deciding where to eat. Ordered many food such as their local fish, a type of bird which I did not know what it is and some other dishes. Had a really great dinner just at the cost of around 320RMB. After dividing among 8 people, it was only 40RMB per person. How cheap. After that, went back to school and had a short tour around the lecturer clubhouse. There were facilities such as gym billiard room and even a chess room. Told myself that I had to visit the gym when I’m free so that I would get really unhealthy because of all the oily food that I ate.
